Terms and Conditions
Welcome to Creative Kid Authors! By accessing or using our website, services, or community, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please refrain from using our services.
1. General Information Creative Kid Authors is a platform designed to inspire and support young storytellers in writing and publishing their own books.
2. Eligibility Our services are designed for children under 16 with the supervision and consent of a parent or guardian. Parents or guardians are responsible for all interactions and submissions made by their children on our platform.
3. Intellectual Property All content on this site, including text, images, logos, and materials, is the property of Creative Kid Authors unless otherwise noted. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use this content without written permission.
4. User-Generated Content Users retain ownership of any stories or content they create. By submitting content to our platform, you grant Creative Kid Authors a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and share your content for promotional and educational purposes.
5. Publishing Attribution Books published through our mentoring program will be attributed to Creative Kid Authors. This may appear in publishing sections such as the copyright or information pages of the book. Authors may choose to publish under their legal name, nickname, or a pseudonym, at the discretion of their parent or guardian.
6. Amazon Affiliate and Earnings Structure Creative Kid Authors participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. All book purchases must be made via a dedicated page on our website which includes an Amazon affiliate link. Parents and children earn royalties directly from book sales. Creative Kid Authors earns a small affiliate commission through Amazon, at no extra cost to the purchaser.
7. Marketing Responsibility Creative Kid Authors provides guidance and general resources to support families with book promotion. However, parents/guardians are responsible for marketing and promoting their child’s book after it is published. No guarantees of exposure, promotion, or sales are made by Creative Kid Authors.
8. Parental Consent and Responsibility Participation in our services requires the explicit consent of a parent or legal guardian. Parents are also responsible for determining whether their child’s book includes any personal information or images, and for understanding and managing privacy risks associated with publishing publicly.
9. Tax Responsibility It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to understand and comply with any tax obligations in their region or country resulting from royalties or income earned through book sales.
10. Liability Disclaimer Creative Kid Authors is not responsible for any errors, omissions, or outcomes resulting from the use of our services. All advice and resources are provided for educational purposes only. Creative Kid Authors does not promise success or earnings for your book and is not responsible for the creation, marketing, or outcome. We are here to help as a service providing information.
11. Use of Child Name, Image, and Voice Creative Kid Authors may request permission to use a child’s first name, image, voice, or book content in promotional material (e.g., website, blog, video, or social media). This is always optional and requires explicit parental consent.
12. Amendments We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Continued use of our website signifies acceptance of the updated terms.
13. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) At Creative Kid Authors, we believe in nurturing children’s creativity, imagination, and original voice. We recognise that artificial intelligence (AI) tools—such as text or image generators—are becoming more accessible, and some families may wish to explore these technologies as part of the creative process.
Our approach is values-led and child-centered:
We encourage children to create original stories and illustrations to support their confidence and personal expression.
We welcome open conversations about the ethical use of AI and are happy to support families in making informed decisions.
If AI is used in any part of the process (e.g., for idea generation, writing assistance, or illustrations), this must be clearly disclosed during the mentoring program.
We do not permit full AI-generated books without meaningful creative input from the child.
Families are encouraged to reflect on their own values and discuss the ethical implications of using AI in creative work.
Due to evolving legislation and publishing guidelines, families must be aware that:
Amazon KDP currently
requires AI-generated content (text or images) to be disclosed at upload.
Books using AI in any capacity must include a disclosure statement in the book’s copyright or information section (e.g., “This book includes content created with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools.”).
Creative Kid Authors will assist in wording and placement of AI disclosures, but responsibility remains with the author and parent/guardian to provide accurate information.
Our priority is to ensure that the child’s learning, growth, and integrity as an author are respected and supported.
14. Refund and Cancellation Policy Creative Kid Authors does not offer refunds for mentoring sessions, programs, or packages once booking and payment have been made. This is due to the significant preparation, planning, and limited capacity of our program spaces.
However:
Sessions may be rescheduled with reasonable notice, subject to availability.
Families may request to transfer to a future group intake, or receive a credit toward a future offering (valid for 12 months).
If Creative Kid Authors is required to cancel a session or program, a full refund or rescheduling option will be provided.
All changes must be requested in writing via email.
15. Session Recording Creative Kid Authors does not record mentoring sessions, and no replays are available. This decision reflects our ethical and legal responsibility to protect the privacy and safety of minors participating in our program. If any session components are ever to be recorded for educational, feedback, or training purposes (in the future), explicit written consent from parents/guardians would be required in advance, and participation would remain optional.
16. Use of Digital Tools Creative Kid Authors uses the following digital platforms to support the self-publishing journey:
Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing): Parents/guardians must create an Amazon KDP account in their own name to upload and publish their child’s book. Creative Kid Authors will guide this process but does not upload or manage accounts on behalf of families.
Canva: Canva is used for book formatting, cover design, and illustrations. Children may use Canva for creative tasks under parental supervision. We recommend families create their own free Canva account and share collaborative permissions with us when needed.
Google Docs: Used for planning, writing, and feedback. Families will need access to a Google account for document sharing. Some documents may be shared between mentor and child/parent for collaborative support. Microsoft accounts may also be used.
By participating in this program, you agree to the use of these tools and understand that permissions may need to be granted for collaborative assistance. Creative Kid Authors does not collect or store login credentials for these platforms.
17. Content Guidelines Creative Kid Authors encourages self-expression and creativity within safe, age-appropriate, and inclusive boundaries. We reserve the right to decline support or publishing guidance for content that includes:
Violence, abuse, or cruelty toward people or animals
Hate speech, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or discriminatory language
Explicit sexual content or sexually suggestive material
Strong profanity or mature language not appropriate for a young audience
Promotion of illegal activity, drugs, or weapons
Bullying, harassment, or defamation of others
Dangerous advice or misleading health information
Plagiarised or AI-generated content without meaningful child contribution or proper disclosure
We will work sensitively with families to navigate concerns or suggest edits where needed. Our goal is to ensure all books created under the Creative Kid Authors name reflect positive, respectful, and ethical standards.
