About Us
& Our Kid Authors
Crystal (Mum) & Zoe
Hi, I’m Zoe, and I’m the kid behind Creative Kid Authors! I wrote my first book when I was 8 years old, and now I want to help other kids just like me bring their stories to life. Writing is so much fun, and it’s even better when you get to share your imagination and ideas with the world.
The idea for Creative Kid Authors started with my mum, Crystal. She’s an author too and has written books to help kids stay safe and learn about their bodies. Click here to find Crystal’s books. Mum showed me a TikTok about a kid author, and we even bought her books to read together. That’s when I knew—I could do it too! Now I write and design my own books, with a little editing help from Mum.
At Creative Kid Authors, we believe every kid has a story worth telling. We’re here to inspire young storytellers, spread kindness, and encourage creativity, determination, and imagination. Whether you want to write about magical adventures, funny characters, or important messages, we’ll guide you from your first idea to publishing your very own book.
We’re building a community where kids can talk about their ideas, share tips, and cheer each other on. I’m excited to chat with you and hear all about the amazing stories you’re creating! You can get started with us by either joining one of our group mentoring sessions, or contact us for private mentoring.
We believe books can spread love, kindness, and meaningful messages across the world, and we can’t wait to see what you create. Let’s write your story together!
About our Creative Kid Authors and Families
Meet our wonderful young authors and family, Jemimah (7), Aylah (9) and Isabella (12) with their amazing Mum, Rachel (who also wrote her own children’s book here).
Together, the Whitton family has turned their love of reading and storytelling into meaningful, imaginative books written entirely by kids, for kids.
Their stories are filled with heart, creativity, and important messages about kindness, confidence, and being true to yourself. Whether it’s learning to treat others with respect or letting your imagination run wild, each book shares a little piece of the author’s personality and passion.
This project has been a family journey. One that included mentoring, brainstorming sessions, and lots of laughs along the way. We had so much fun helping them from start to finish!
Testimonial
Creative Kid Authors walked us through each step along the way. My three children were each so different in how they wanted to create a book. It was really interesting and fun to see them stretch themselves and discover creative parts of themselves. Zoe and Crystal were able to support all of our neurodivergent learning needs (between us all, we are an Autistic, ADHDer, Dyslexic, Dysgraphic and Dyscaluliac family!) with a gentle, low demand and easy going approach that honoured our individual rhythms and reduced overwhelm. It made everything feel manageable and low stress. It was such a creative and fun project to do together as a family. I am personally so very thankful to have learned how to do this all myself, as I always wanted to write my own children's book one day too. My three children have increased self-esteem knowing they have an actual book out there in the world that people can read which they wrote and designed by themselves! My hot tip as a parent supporting more than one child do this project: Help publish one book at a time. Do not attempt to do all of the children's books at one time! Trust me... it will save you unnecessary mistakes. - Rachel W
